ACT Policing is investigating a collision of a car into a backyard pool area on Mathieson Crescent, Weetangera, just before 8pm last night (Thursday 16 April).

It appears a Silver E320 Mercedes sedan had been travelling West on Lachlan Street, Macquarie, when it failed to slow down or attempt to turn at the T- intersection with Coulter Drive.

The Mercedes continued straight across Coulter Drive, mounting the gutter, before continuing through the rear fence of a house on Mathieson Crescent.

The Mercedes has become airborne for about four metres and landed, coming to rest on the edge of a swimming pool.

The occupants of the house saw a young Caucasian man exit the driver’s door of the Mercedes and run through the hole in the fence on to Coulter Drive.

Police checks revealed the Mercedes had been stolen on 14 April and was displaying stolen plates from around the same date.

Police are urging anyone who may have witnessed the incident or have any information that could assist police to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000, or via act.crimestoppers.com.au. Information can be provided anonymously. Police remind people they should not report crime information via Facebook and Twitter pages.
