DOMENIC Mico returns to the Canberra theatre scene as director of “Everyday Ancestors – A Singing Memoir”, a cabaret written and performed by soprano Fleur Millar. It’s a semi-autobiographical piece. After being a carer for her mother, opera singer Fleur is rediscovering her own identity – a great excuse for her to explore wonderful Italian songs and arias, such as Puccini’s “O Mio Babbino Caro”. RAW Canberra’s final blockbuster for the year, “Motif,” will bring together 30 or more local emerging artists spanning fashion, music, visual and performing arts and music at Belconnen Arts Centre. RAW Showcase director Jacqui Halliday describes the venture as “an explosion fuelled by the fire of a city’s best emerging creatives”.
