Arts / Cream of the performing crop

The Aston Shuffle.
The Aston Shuffle.

“LOCAL for Local” is the mantra of the new Cream Festival, created when local events solutions company Rockmann & Rush concluded we don’t engage enough of our own local Canberra talent.

All the selected “smoothest, freshest and tastiest” musical acts, whether now international, national or new, are Canberran, as is the artwork. Food and drink will be served up by local start-ups and the T-shirts screen printed by local Sancho’s Dirty Laundry.

Cream organisers have partnered with the Noffs Foundation and Kulture Break to create opportunities for young people.

It’s a day of music, as acts including The Aston Shuffle, (hosts of Triple J’s Friday night shuffle) Citizen Kay, Coda Conduct and Sondrio will perform, along with up-and-coming acts such as Room and The Gypsy Scholars.

Cream Festival, Westside Acton Park, from noon, Saturday, August 27. Program at creamfestival.com.au
