“FLORIADE’S famous flowers won’t be the only beautiful stems on display this weekend,” say the organisers of the inaugural ‘Miss Burlesque Idol Australia’ coming up at The Abbey this Saturday.

Nine  ‘Burlesque Idol’ finalists from across the country will be making their way to the ACT  for a burlesque showdown like no other, as the city gets ready to crown its  first ever Burlesque queen, thus joining  a worldwide movement.

‘Burlesque Idol’ started six years ago in London as a means of supporting emerging stars in the  industry, and has since grown to tour across the globe, including the UK, USA and Australia.

This Saturday’s Australian Grand Finale of ‘Burlesque Idol’ will see   finalists from seven states competing for the crown.

The glittering night will feature audience voting for the winner, a preshow vintage  marketplace, raffle with over $2000 in prizes, panel of leading cabaret performers and  producers from around the world, and over two hours of performances ranging  from comedy to classic burlesque.

The winner will go with a range of prizes   including performance opportunities in Los Angeles, New York and London.

‘Burlesque Idol’ at The Abbey, Federation Sq., O’Hanlon Pl, Nicholls, doors open 6:30pm, show 8pm,   Sat September 17,  bookings to burlesqueIdol.com.au
