Greens call on Labor to hand back their developer dollars

indra esguerra

ACT Greens democracy spokesperson Indra Esguerra has called on ACT Labor to return money received from developers including Quay Building Group, Hindmarsh Corporate, Dexar Group, Dowse Projects, SHL Developments, and the Molonglo Group.

“It was the Labor and Liberal parties who ganged up against the Greens to re-allow developer donations two years ago – and now three weeks out from an election, Labor expects us to believe they will clean up political donations,” Indra said.

“If Labor is serious about taking on developer donations, they must return all of the money they have received from developers over the last two years.

“A failure to do this seriously undermines their credibility. After taking developer money ahead of this election, I think they are now left looking insincere and like opportunists.

“The Greens want a complete end to donations from developers and corporations. Our plan would put the community first by completely cleaning up political donations, and reinstating the laws the Labor and Liberal parties watered down two years ago.

“Labor can’t have it both ways. If they want to go to the election pledging a ban so soon after re-allowing these donations, they need to walk the talk and return the money,” said Ms Esguerra.
