The Empire Global Art Award now invites entries in two categories: artist aged 15 – 25 years and artist over 25 years; with both attracting a $2000 cash prize each. All artwork must be original and needs to have been completed within the past two years and not previously exhibited.

CEO of the centre, Rauny Worm, quotes Picasso in announcing the award, saying, “Art is the lie that enables us to realise the truth”.

Ms Worms says, “We’re hoping the theme will encourage people to submit art that speaks loudly. It may challenge or it may comfort. The overall Art Centre’s program this year has been quite bold and we are looking forward to the 2016 entries to this new Award.

Empire Global is a prominent Canberra development company, with projects spanning 20 years, relevantly within the Tuggeranong Town Centre, including purchase of two land parcels within the ACT Government’s urban precinct at Southquay Greenway.

Empire Global’s managing director, Tom Simunic, says, “Arts and culture is a critical component of developing a vibrant city, and we are excited to be able to help foster this in Tuggeranong.”
