Wellington comes to Canberra for a celebration

Wellington.

IT’S just over one year since Singapore Airlines’ Canberra-Wellington “Capital Express” flights started and NewActon is marking this sister-city connection with craft beer, food, wine and music this weekend.

It’s not just a Canberra thing. Wellingtonnz.com has teamed up with NewActon and its entertainment gurus Dionysus to bring top NZ chefs, Rob Essenburg and Simon Pepping, to town, along with Wellington beer expert and the brains behind Beervana festival, Beth Brash.

Canberra’s Capital Brewing and Bentspoke will be matched by craft beers from Wellington brewers Garage Project, Choice Bros, Kereru and Fork Brewing, while Canberra District Wine Association will host tastings of the region’s best wines in a ticketed event.

And there’s culture of a different kind on offer too.

Canberra songstress Lucy Sugerman, who recently made it to the finals of The Voice and New Zealand singer Eva Prowse have created a song especially for “Capital Collab” and Canberra author Sean Costello has written a zine telling a tale of love and discovery between a Canberran and a Wellingtonian.

As well, there’ll be street food, live art demonstrations and vinyl sounds from Capital City Soul Club.

Patrons can enter to win a trip for two to Wellington’s Toast Martinborough wine, food, and music festival this November – visit the “Destination Wairarapa” stand or wellingtonnz.com/capital-collab/

“Capital Collab”, NewActon Precinct, 12pm-5pm, Saturday, October 7, free general entry, although some specific events are ticketed.
