Jewellery talk at the NGA

MASTER jeweller and designer Stefano Canturi will be in town on Tuesday talking with Lucina Ward, the NGA’s International Painting and Sculpture curator, about the influence of the Renaissance on jewellery design.

It’s all part of an afternoon tea experience in the gallery’s Sculpture Garden restaurant that follows a tour of the Renaissance exhibition.

As a 16-year-old student, Canturi was fascinated by the history, engineering, architecture and art of the Renaissance.

Then as a young designer he discovered the celebrated Renaissance artist and goldsmith Benevenuto Cellini.

Canturi’s work can be seen around the world in film and fashion, as well as in his galleries in Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane and New York.

Stefano Canturi and Lucina Ward, followed by afternoon tea in the Sculpture Garden Restaurant, March 20, 1pm, $55 members; $60 guests, bookings to 6240 6528.
