Judith Durham heads to Canberra

Legendary Australian singer Judith Durham.
AUSTRALIA’S first pop princess and former lead singer of The Seekers, Judith Durham will embark on a national tour this June and July, with a final stop in Canberra.

“Colours of My Life”, is Durham’s first Australian tour since 2001, and will be a selection of her best music from her 50 year music career.

It will also include a tribute to Canberra with a special performance of her song “Australia’s Canberra” from her new fundraiser album “The Australian Cities Suite” to be release on April 27.

Funds raised from “The Australian Cities Suite” goes to the hundreds of charities supported by the Lord Mayor’s Charitable Foundation, including the Motor Neurone Disease Association and Orchestra Victoria.

“Life is so full of surprises lately, and to be given this opportunity to sing live for all my beautiful Australian fans at this 50th anniversary milestone time in my life is a dream coming true,” Durham said.

“It has been on the horizon for 10 years since my last big tour here and I can’t wait to get out and say hello to everyone in song.”

The Seekers, fronted by Durham, was Australia’s first global chart-topping band in the mid 1960s. Durham and her band mates were jointly named “Australian of the Year” in 1967 for putting Australia on the international pop music map, after outselling The Beatles and The Rolling Stones and becoming the first Australian band to reach number one in the UK and US.

Hits include Oscar-nominated “Georgy Girl”, “I’ll Never Find Another You” and “The Carnival Is Over”.

Judith Durham’s “Colours of My Life” concert at the Royal Theatre, National Convention Centre on Monday July 16. Tickets on sale Thursday May 3 at ticketek.com.au or 132 849.
