Kevin’s tea blend heads for the shops

TWININGS Australian Afternoon Tea, blended by Kevin Rudd, will be available just in time for Australia Day.

The new tea blend was found through a national competition that included blends created by shock jock Alan Jones, television presenter Kerri-Anne Kennerley, seven-time world surfing champion Layne Beachley and country music star John Williamson.

More than 80,000 Australians cast their vote following a series of public tastings of the top five blends in Sydney, Melbourne, and Perth and online during 2011.

Ten cents from every sale of Australian Afternoon Tea will go towards Rudd’s chosen charity, the RSPCA for the rest of 2012.

Australian Afternoon Tea is described as being rich, satisfying and robust, the perfect pick me up. To create the tea Rudd blended Russian Caravan with the full bodied Irish Breakfast and then added the light Ceylon Orange Pekoe.
