Night of nights for CAPO

TOMORROW, Saturday, is the night of nights for the Capital Arts Patrons Organisation as artists and business people join together for the CAPO29 gala auction and awards ceremony.

“Someone Is Hearing Me Without Knowing It,” Mariana del Castillo and Harriet Schwarzrock, 2011, from CAPO 28 Auction
M16 Artspace in Griffith is the new host of the event and will open its doors at 6.45pm to welcome guests. Throughout the evening, there will be music by The Fuelers as well as gourmet food and drinks.

The CAPO annual exhibition celebrate Canberra’s creative community and flourishing art production in an exhibition and catalogue available at the auction and online.

Over 100 artworks donated by our creative community will be on display, ready to be auctioned during the night, and valued from $100 to over $4000. They include works in lighting, photography, painting, printmaking, drawing, jewellery, sculpture, textiles, ceramics and glass.

Eleven awards, including the CAPO Fellowship, will be announced, granted to support artists’ professional practices and projects. The remarkable thing is that all these awards are supported by business in a unique collaboration.

Soprano Susan Ellis says of the night, “it is a highlight of the year for me. CAPO assisted me to go to Germany, so I encourage others to support the next fortunate artist who will have the life changing opportunity I had”.

A record number of artists from Canberra and the Capital region have donated to the CAPO 29 exhibition.
