Rebuilding art

RANDOM 9 is a group of (not nine) 13 independent Australian emerging visual artists in Canberra.

The group, now made up of Jessie Adams, Sarah Bainbridge, Aimee Fitzgerald, Maria Klingner, Kristen Leydon, Dianne Libke, Frank Maconochie, Payal Sehgal, Stephanie Parker, Tanija Parker, Merrilyn Sernack, Ingrid Singh and Catherine Winter, was set up in 2010 with the aim of promoting the artistic practice of its members.

The idea was to provide a forum for members to discuss their work as well as putting together group exhibitions of members’ work to an agreed theme.

While the shows have initially been held in Canberra, in the future such group exhibitions may be held outside of Canberra.

This time round, Random9 has been looking at the theme “Rebuilt”, an exploration of the reconstructed, though fabric, metal, wood, paint, textiles, ink, found objects, photo media and jewellery.

“Rebuilt” continues at the same venue from 10am-4pm on Saturday, February 25 and  9am-5pm weekdays until March 2.
