Talkback mice get a little more roar

CANBERRA FM radio station 104.7 continues to dominate the city’s radio ratings, according to the first Neilsen survey for the year.

104.7, with a market share of 19.4 per cent, now has an unbroken run of 11 survey wins and the station’s breakfast show hosts Scotty & Nige are again Canberra’s favourite couple to wake up to.

Sister station mix106.3 came third in the rankings with 15 per cent, just behind the ABC’s 666 on 15.9 per cent.

Meanwhile, the AM stations 2CC and Forever Classic 2CA enjoyed a lift in popularity. 2CC rose 2.3 points to 8.7 per cent share of radio listening Monday to Sunday, 5.30am to midnight.

“CityNews” columnist and 2CC breakfast announcer Mark Parton gained 1.2 points to take breakfast share to 6.9 per cent and drive announcer Mike Welsh added a very solid 3.2 points to lift his program’s share to 5.5 per cent.

2CC proves a popular listening choice among people aged 40+ and is the number one rating commercial radio station for those aged 55+

2CA also gained 1.1 per cent to a 6 per cent market share.
