TOMORROW, we’ll know who’s won the 2013 Capital Chemist Art Award when it’s announced in Tuggeranong Arts Centre refurbished galleries after an official opening by Capital Chemist Group Business Manager Peter Downing.
A good example of a strong arts and community partnership, it’s of the few local art awards with a cash prize attached.
In addition to the $2000 main prize, Capital Chemist will offer a special $500 prize for a Centenary-themed work. This year for the People’s Choice Award, Aarwun Galleries, who will offer a $250 voucher for framing in-store.
The award is open to artists over the age of 25 from Canberra and the surrounding regions.
This year the judges includes curator and arts writer Helen Maxwell and Mark Bayly, assistant director, Exhibitions and Collections at Canberra Museum and Galleries.
