ERIC BOGLE is a rare household name in Australia.
Probably best-known for his song “The Band Played Waltzing Matilda”, he’ll be in town tomorrow at the Canberra Southern Cross Club.
He’ll be playing his most well known songs and fan favourites along with music from his recently released 15th album “Toss Of The Coin”. A collaboration with long time musical partner, John Munro, the new album proves that while Bogle now confines his touring to Australia and New Zealand, he has not given up song-writing and recording.
Always keen to reflect the times we live in and recent world events, Bogle will sings ten of the songs, while John Munro will contribute two new songs but sings them as well.
Bogle’s songs have been recorded by Joan Baez, Mary Black, Donovan, Slim Dusty, John Williamson, The Dubliners, Peter Paul & Mary, Billy Bragg, and The Pogues and his “No Man’s Land (Green Fields of France)” spent 26 weeks on the Irish music charts, including ten weeks at the #1 position.
