christmas

THERE’S more than a touch of ho! ho! ho! at The Queanbeyan City Council’s cultural desk  this week.

First comes an urgent reminder  that entries into Council’s  Regional Art Awards 2013 are due next Tuesday,  July 23, at The Q, Queanbeyan performing arts centre,  between 10am and  4pm. Entry is open to all artists and craftspeople residing in the Queanbeyan, Palerang, Cooma Monaro or Yass Valley Local Government areas, meaning that ACT residents are not eligible to enter, and forms are available at qcc.nsw.gov.au

Secondly, they’re gearing up for the Christmas in July Markets this Sunday, July  21, to run in The Q Foyer and Exhibition Space from 11am to  3pm.

As well as antiques, collectables, arts and crafts, revamped furniture, gourmet treats, jewellery, candles, ceramics, there will be free face painting and balloon modelling for the kids.

Performances will be by the Ukulele Republic of Canberra and among the gourmet items will be  traditional German kransky and sauerkraut rolls, and cupcakes.

Annual Christmas In July Markets, The Q Foyer and Exhibition Space, 11am-3pm, Sunday July  21, access via Lowe St Queanbeyan at the council chambers level. All welcome.
