Duffy chase ends in arrest

POLICE arrested a 21-year-old Duffy man on a string of charges after a car chase early on Saturday morning.

Officers attempted to pull over a red Mitsubishi Magna sedan that was speeding along Dixon Drive, Duffy, at around 2:20am.

The driver failed to stop and continued through Duffy at speeds up to 89km/h before crossing into Rivett, where the car mounted a kerb on Darwinia Terrace, slid sideways down a steep underpass embankment and came to a stop.

The chase continued along a footpath and the man was apprehended near Toona Place, Rivett. According to police, he had been driving while disqualified with seven passengers, including one in the boot, and carrying  a small amount of a substance suspected to be Methamphetamine.

Police seized the car and arrested the man, who fill face ACT Magistrates Court charged with failing to stop, furious/reckless/dangerous driving, driving while disqualified and possession of drug of dependence.
