Final attendance figures show 442,243 people attended the month-long festival in 2012, up 7.3 per cent from the previous year.

Overall, 122,759 visitors were from interstate or overseas.

The event also recorded its highest single day attendance with 35,200 people passing through the gates on September 30.

And a new record was set over the Labour Day long weekend, with 87,299 visitors.

The ACT Government says that resulted in an increase in direct expenditure in Territory of $27.6 million, down 9 per cent on last year.
