With a record number of local entries for this year’s event, the first week got off to a lively start, and now, commencing tomorrow, Tuesday, the rest of this year’s selection will be seen at the Courtyard Studio.

The Gala Finale is on Saturday, August 17, when the most outstanding ten plays, as selected by judges and the audience, will compete for the ultimate crown of winner of Short+Sweet Canberra 2013.

Of special interest in this centenary year is the play “I Have a Plan… the Battle for Canberra” by Canberra poet, Hal Judge, which focuses on the character of Marion Mahoney (Burley Griffin).

The Gala presentation of most outstanding work as selected by audience and local judges will take place on Saturday August 17 at 2.30pm and 7.30pm, but the announcement will be made on the previous evening, Friday, August 16.

This week’s masterclass will be held on Friday August 16 at 5.30pm and is open to all Canberrans (free of charge) upon arrival at the theatre, but those interested are advised to arrive early to avoid disappointment.
