Men busted with 78 cannabis plants

TWO 23-year-old men will face court today after police found 78 mature cannabis plants in their truck.

Around 1.30pm yesterday members of the Drug and Organised Crime team stopped a light rigid truck. A search revealed 78 mature cannabis plants.

The driver was arrested and the passenger released from the scene.

Subsequent enquiries revealed the cannabis was cultivated at a premises in Charnwood. Police attended the home and spotted a man, who fled on foot. He was later found nearby and arrested.

A sophisticated hydroponic set-up was found in two rear sheds.

The two men will appear in the ACT Magistrates Court today on charges of possession of a trafficable quantity of drugs, and cultivation of a prohibited plant.
