Catering in the first instance to  8-11 year olds and to 12-15 year olds, from July 15-21, the program will also provide more intensive programs for people aged 16 and over, including adults.

Courses run for five days during the week or for two days over the weekend, between Monday,  July 15 and Sunday, July 21 at Daramalan College.

Highlights for younger students include: classes in  improvisation, voice, movement and acting, with a performance for family and friends at the end of the week; “Doctor Who: Acting on Screen Adventures”, where students tackle the essential skills of screen acting while working on original scripts from the “Doctor Who” TV series; and a two-day intensive Acting Boot Camp  for acting recruits, with studies of improvisation, character and scenework.

Course options for people aged 16+ include: an acting techniques course in voice, movement, improvisation and characterisation; A course in screen acting essentials, involving rehearsing and performing  scenes from well-known films and television programs, to camera; and a course in faking it—being shot, acting drunk, waking up, crying and laughing.

Classes are led by specialists in theatre, film and television, and are passionate about performing arts education. Many are NIDA graduates who have since gone on to achieve great successes as actors and performing arts practitioners.

Registrations close on July 15. Inquiries to www.nida.edu.au or by phoning NIDA Open on (02) 9697 7626.
