According to Ozquilt Network President, Margery Goodall, this is the third biennial travelling exhibition from the group.

“The 34 stitched, layered works, which are 40cm x 40cm, showcase original and diverse interpretations of contemporary textile art from Australia’s leading and emerging quilt artists,” she said, predicting that they would “excite viewers with the infinite possibilities of ‘the quilt’ in art.” Goodall said the selectors read as a ‘whose who’ in the world of textile art such as Deborah Brearley, Victoria, (quilter, painter, author and tutor); Tony Dyer, Victoria, (lecturer and master of diverse textile techniques who has works in many important collections in Australia and overseas); and Carolyn Sullivan, NSW, (multiple award winning quilt-maker, embroiderer and author).

It is pleasing to report that there is good local representation also, with Canberra’s Dianne Firth, Helen Gray and Pamela Munday all displaying a work in this exhibition.

“Australia Wide 3,” presented by Ozquilt Network Inc and Queanbeyan City Council, at The Q Exhibition Space Queanbeyan Performing Arts Centre, via Lowe Street Queanbeyan Weekdays 10am – 4pm, Saturdays 10am – 3pm, until November 16. Floor Talk 11am Thursday, October 31, All welcome.
