P-plater nabbed driving 69km/h over limit

A GORDON man has lost his licence after he was caught driving 69km/h over the speed limit on the weekend.

The man, a P-plate driver, was travelling 169km/h in a 100km/h zone on the Monaro Highway. He was issued a $1181 fine and lost six demerit points.

Police say it was one of 66 Traffic Infringement Notices issued for speeding over the Centenary Day long weekend.

Police also performed 956 random breath tests over the three day long weekend with six drivers returning positive readings, including a 25-year-old Campbell woman who blew a Blood Alcohol Concentration reading of 0.117 at the intersection of Belconnen Way and Coulter Drive on Friday.
