Ram raiders target north again

POLICE are investigating two ram raids in Canberra’s north last night, where thieves unsuccessfully tried to steal an ATM.

About 10.30pm the vandals reversed a car into the United Petrol Station in Amaroo in what is believed to be an unsuccessful attempt to steal an ATM.

At about 11.40pm police were notified by the security of Yowani Country Club of damage to the front entrance of the club.

CCTV footage showed a dark coloured station wagon reverse several times into the front doors. A person then briefly approached the ATM, turned and got back in the car and drove away.

The ram raids follows a similar incident last week where vandals smashed their car into the Black Pepper Café on Beissel Street and stole an onsite ATM.

Anyone who may have been in the vicinity of these incidents and noticed anything suspicious, should contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000 or via the website www.crimestoppers.com.au. Information can be provided anonymously.
