THE number of people looking for work continues to rise in the ACT, according to new figures by the Australian Bureau of Statistics.
Figures show the ACT’s unemployment rate rose by 0.2 of a percentage point in trend terms during October, at 4.4 per cent. It remains the lowest rate in the country, behind Western Australia at 4.5 per cent.
Nationally, the jobless rate held steady during the month, at 5.7 per cent, with a big fall in full-time jobs being only partially offset by an increase in part-time positions.
