Vehicle seized after drink driver pursuit

Police-car-0574-175x175A 21-year-old suspended driver from Gordon will face court following an early morning police pursuit through the suburb today.

Around 1.10 am police spotted a maroon Ford XR6 sedan performing burnouts and driving erratically near Woodcock Drive, Gordon. Seeing the police, the car accelerated away.

Police pursued the vehicle as it travelled at what will be alleged as excessive and dangerous speeds. Due to the dangerous manner of driving by the offender, police terminated the pursuit.

Police later arrested the driver, who had attempted to flee on foot, and took him to the Tuggeranong Police Station, where he returned a positive blood-alcohol reading.

The vehicle was seized by police.

Acting superintendent of Traffic Operations, Rod Anderson, said: “To drive drunk, as a suspended driver, in wet conditions, and in such a dangerous manner is a deadly combination.”
