A large amount of dark grey aluminium window framing was stolen from a construction site at the ANU, some time between June 20 and August 6.
The stolen aluminum window frames may have already been sold, or may be sold in the future, either for scrap metal or to a company in the metalwork industry.
Police believe the thieves would have needed a large vehicle with carrying racks to remove the box-shaped pieces of aluminium, which are 7.8 metres long and coated in a dark grey powder finish, from the “China in the World” site on Fellows Road.
The theft has also prompted police to warn construction businesses that they should secure their work sites.
ANU security footage is being reviewed.
Anyone with information on the stolen aluminium can contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000 or through act.crimestoppers.com.au. Information can be provided anonymously.
