49 arts grant winners

JOY Burch has announced that a visual artist mentorship program, a contemporary pop band, and a dance theatre group are among the 49 successful applicants who will share in arts funding worth $720,000.

“The ACT Government is extremely pleased to have been able to increase the number of projects being funded for 2015, up from the 42 that were supported this year,” Ms Burch said.

“Project funding supports the development of the arts through excellence, innovation and community engagement, which are three key principles of the ACT Arts Policy Framework.

“The assessment panel praised the quality and creativity of the ideas proposed, and wereinspired by the vibrancy and strength of our arts community.

“Next year promises to be a fabulous year for the arts and I look forward to the outcomes of such an eclectic range of exciting new arts development projects.”
