ACTEWAGL are warning that if you own or rent your home, it’s your responsibility to keep trees and other vegetation on the property clear of powerlines.
ActewAGL has launched a campaign to remind customers to check that trees are a minimum distance of 1.5 metres away from powerlines. If they are too close, an ActewAGL accredited tree surgeon must be used.
“People often don’t realise that trees growing too close to powerlines are a significant safety risk. By keeping them clear, you can help reduce the risk of blackouts and bushfires and allow us to carry out important maintenance work,” said Robert Atkin, ActewAGL’s General Manager Network Services.
They would like readers to consider trimming shrubs and removing interferences like rubbish and rocks from around power poles, meters, electrical substations and mini pillars, so that there is a minimum distance of 1.5 metres clearance in all directions.
