A gay party at the Hyatt tonight to greet the Australian Christian Lobby

Hyatt protest

QUEER news site “Same Same” are reporting that there will be a protest party this evening at the Hyatt Hotel over the Australian Christian Lobby using that venue for its national conference.

A collection of queer Canberrans have now announced they will be holding their own event at the Hyatt from 6pm tonight, at the same time as the Christian Lobby’s conference is set to begin.

Called the Australian People’s Lobby Party, the organisers invite you to “come and have a drink for equality.”

It will be an opportunity for the LGBTI community to get together, “and it also provides an opportunity for the Hyatt to reaffirm its commitment to the LGBT community,” says Simpson, “while also publicly showing the faces of people whose rights and dignity the Christian Lobby wish to deny.”

It starts at 6pm tonight, and all are invited to attend. Remember to tell the staff you are going to the ‘Australian People’s Lobby’ party, not the ‘Australian Christian Lobby’ party – or you could end up at a party that’s not quite so welcoming.
