International drug smuggler busted in Wright

drugs

ACT Policing arrested a 25-year-old Wright man yesterday morning for the importation of drugs into Australia.

Between 13 June and 7 August, the AFP was alerted to several packages that were intercepted by Australian Customs and Border Protection Service which contained border controlled drugs.

On 7 August, a Canberra hotel received a similar suspicious package and alerted Police.

Police took possession of the package and deconstructed it to find 496.3 grams of what appeared to be Methylenedioxymethcathinone (MDMC), an analogue of Methcathinone.

The man attempted to retrieve the package at 9am on Friday morning and was arrested by police a short time later.

Police executed a search warrant on the man’s house in Wright, seizing a number of items of interest.

The man was conveyed to the City Police Station and charged with importing a border controlled drug. He will face the ACT Magistrates Court this morning.
