Machete v. Dogs in Watson

police

A 36-year-old Florey man will face the ACT Magistrates Court this morning (October 4) after an investigation into an attack on another man in Watson eight days ago.

Police will allege that on September 26, after a dispute over stolen property, the offender made an unprovoked attack on the victim with a machete. The victim’s two dogs attempted to defend their owner but the victim received deep cuts to his legs before the offender ran off.

The victim was conveyed to hospital and has been receiving ongoing treatment for his injuries.

Yesterday (October 3) ACT Criminal Investigations detectives visited a residence in Florey where they identified and took the alleged offender into custody. A search warrant was executed on the man’s unit and a machete was found on the floor in the alleged offender’s bedroom. A further warrant was executed on the man’s car, a Toyota Celica, with clothing seized.

The Florey man will face the ACT Magistrates Court today charged with assault occasioning actual bodily harm.
