ERIN Pavy from Ainslie Chemmart Compounding Pharmacy in the ACT has been announced as The 2015 Pharmacy Guild of Australia/GuildSuper National Pharmacy Assistant of the Year.

Erin is the first pharmacy assistant from the ACT to win the National Pharmacy Assistant of the Year title. She was chosen from over 450 nominations and awarded the title at the annual Pharmacy Assistant National Conference at the Gold Coast on Friday.

“I’m thrilled! I’ve been a pharmacy assistant for 22 years and to have this recognition is a testament to the work I put in,” Erin said.

“I would like to say a huge thank you to my employer, work colleagues and customers for their support and enthusiasm; they make it a pleasure to come to work every day.

“It was wonderful to spend time with the other State Finalists, sharing our love of, and commitment to, community pharmacy and celebrating our joy of working in such a rewarding industry,” Mrs Pavy said.

Pharmacy Guild of Australia National President, Mr George Tambassis said this award reinforces the importance of pharmacy assistants in community pharmacy across Australia.

“Erin demonstrated a wide breadth of knowledge, passion, and commitment to community pharmacy; particularly in terms of product knowledge and her desire to provide services to support her local community.

“She is dedicated to making her pharmacy an enjoyable, supportive workplace for her staff through leading by example and encouraging staff to offer a range of health services to actively support their customers and community.

“On behalf of the Pharmacy Guild of Australia, I would like to congratulate Erin – an excellent role model and an outstanding pharmacy assistant,” he said.

As the 2015 National Pharmacy Assistant of the Year, Mrs Pavy has won $5,000 cash and a Guild training course to the value of $5,100.
