Budget gives school a $17 million refurb

BELCONNEN High School is to get a $17.6 million refurbishment and new facilities in tomorrow’s ACT Budget.

Education Minister Joy Burch says: “Students at Belconnen High School will have the opportunity to learn in new and upgraded spaces designed to facilitate the best educational outcomes.

“The $17.6 million investment is in addition to the $2.2 million already allocated in previous Budgets to prepare the site and undertake initial upgrades.

Stage 2 of the Belconnen High School modernisation project will progress over the next three years. Detailed design work will commence immediately, with construction and refurbishment work expected to commence in February 2016 and be completed by late 2017.
