QUEANBEYAN City Council is seeking the community views on concept designs for seven parks and open spaces.

Council engaged landscape architects to develop concept designs for:

• Barracks Flat Park
• Candlebark Road Reserve
• High St dog off-lead area
• Jerrabomberra Reserve – off Waterfall Dr
• Bicentennial Park
• Gary Owen Park
• Jerrabomberra Foreshore – adjacent to community centre.

“The concept designs show a range of improvements to the parks and open spaces and Council now wants to hear the community’s thoughts before we move ahead with the designs,” Mayor Tim Overall said.

“Queanbeyan is very lucky to have such a great range, and abundance, of green space in the urban areas of the city. Council has been gradually upgrading and renewing its parks and playgrounds over the past five years and this is another step along the way.

“At this stage, Council has not allocated funding for upgrades for all of seven parks and open spaces, however Barracks Flat Park ($135,000), Candlebark Road Reserve ($120,000), Bicentennial Park ($35,000) and Jerrabomberra Foreshore ($75,000) all have funding allocated in the 2015-16 financial year. High St dog off-lead area has $25,000 allocated for the 2016-17 financial year.

“Funding for the other parks and open spaces will be considered in future budgets.”

Concept designs for all of the parks and open spaces can be downloaded from Council’s website at qcc.nsw.gov.au under ‘Documents on Exhibition’ and comments will be received until 5pm on Friday 30 October 2015.
