Top tips from the Government for surviving magpie season

TERRITORY and Municipal Services have released a video on the best ways to get through the magpie season unscathed.

For most of the year magpies are a wonderful part of life in the bush capital. If there is a swooping bird in your neighbourhood you can take these simple measures to protect yourself. Wear a hat. Wear glasses to protect your eyes. Walk your bike and don’t run. Take an umbrella on your walk. You can also watch the magpie when you are going through its territory as they are less likely to swoop if you are keeping your eye on them. And always keep your dog on a lead when walking through a magpie’s territory. If possible, take a different route.
