Arrest made over last year’s Gowrie shooting

ACT Policing have arrested a 22-year-old Canberra man after an extensive investigation into the shooting of a house in Gowrie last year.

About 2.30am on 2 February 2015, police attended a house on Dalziel Street, Gowrie, after the resident reported shots had been fired into the home.

Police attended and confirmed five shots were fired at the home and that three people were home when the incident occurred.

On the same day a gold Subaru WRX was located burnt out in Uriarra that Police believed was connected to the shooting incident.

ACT Police commenced an investigation into the incident(s) and executed search warrants at a number of locations across the ACT seizing suspected drugs, ammunition and a replica firearm.

The 22-year-old ACT resident has been charged with arson and destroying or concealing evidence.

He will face the ACT Magistrates Court this morning (Friday 5 February 2016).

Investigations into the shooting are ongoing.
