Arts / Dublin star singing at the Irish Club

DUBLIN singer/songwriter Eleanor McEvoy will be at the Canberra Irish Club on Saturday as part of a world tour of her latest album “Naked Music”.

She has been praised for stripping her songs down to the bare bones of her voice with the accompaniment of a single instrument, mostly acoustic guitar.

“In these days of over-production, auto-tuning and pitch-correction, her approach is a breath of fresh air,” one critic commented.

McEvoy is perhaps best known for the power of compositions such as “Sophie”, “Harbour” and “Only a Woman’s Heart”, which gave its title to the best-selling album in Irish chart history. That record’s success made McEvoy a superstar in Ireland almost overnight.

Eleanor McEvoy, supported by Night Potion Duo, Canberra Irish Club, 7. 30pm, on Saturday, October 29. Bookings to trybooking.com
