SIMON Corbell says the great work undertaken in our community by ACT State Emergency Service (ACTSES) volunteers has resulted in a deluge of applications for volunteer positions.
“In the latest recruitment process the agency received 362 applications for 28 volunteer positions,” Simon said.
“The ACTSES currently has 260 volunteer members who respond to the emergency needs of the Canberra community 24 hours a day, seven days a week, 365 days a year.
“Receiving so many applications to become a volunteer of the ACTSES is an overwhelming response from the people of Canberra who are always generous with their time to help their fellow citizens.
“It’s also very pleasing to see that 132 of the applications are from women. The ACT Emergency Services Agency is actively promoting career opportunities for females as part of the ESA Women in Emergency Services Strategy.”
A multi stage assessment process will be undertaken in the coming weeks to determine the successful applications ahead of formal induction and the commencement of training with local units.
