Share Canberra's trusted news:

ACT Fire & Rescue and ACT Ambulance Service are currently on scene in Greenway investigating the smell of smoke in a building.

Firefighters evacuated approximately 30 people as a precaution from the building on the corner of Reed St N and Anketell St.

Crews and are now waiting for Hazmat to arrive and conduct atmospheric monitoring to clear the area.

Paramedics have not needed to treated anyone.

Crews were alerted to the incident just after 8:59am.

ACT Fire & Rescue with the assistance of electricians have not been able to determine the cause of the smell of smoke. A second opinion was sought out from Richtek Electrical in Perth. The environment was quite stressful and we thank everyone’s patience.

Atmospheric monitoring has been conducted returning a clear result and so people have now been allowed to returned to the building.
