‘Like Canberra’ removes itself from the ACT register

“LIKE Canberra” a local political party, who ran in the 2016 ACT election, has been removed from the ACT’s register of political parties today, May 26, according to acting ACT electoral commissioner Ro Spence.

Tim Bohm

The registration was cancelled at the request of the party.

“Like Canberra” was originally registered in June, 2016, headed by Tim Bohm, who also leaded the “Bullet Train for Australia” party. The party’s views include support for a bullet train between Canberra and Sydney, an Independent Commission Against Corruption, waiving one parking fine per year, increased wages for nurses, childcare workers and teachers, and marriage equality.

During the election campaign “Bullet Train for Australia” members raised concerns about the party’s endorsement of “Like Canberra”, party expenditure on the Like Canberra campaign, and a lack of consultation around the intersection between the parties.

Eleven parties remain registered in the ACT.

They include:

  • Animal Justice Party
  • Australian Labor Party (ACT Branch)
  • Australian Sex Party ACT
  • Canberra Community Voters
  • Liberal Democratic Party
  • Liberal Party of Australia (A. C. T. Division)
  • Sustainable Australia (ACT)
  • The ACT Greens
  • The Community Alliance Party (ACT)
  • The Flux Party – ACT
  • VoteCanberra
