Man allegedly forces girls into car

A MAN and a woman will face court today (June 15) after they allegedly abducted two teenage girls near Queanbeyan.

Shortly before midday yesterday (June 14), two girls, aged 14, were on Donald Road, Karabar, when a car pulled up alongside them.

Police have been told that a man exited the car and forced the girls into the backseat before driving away.

A woman was also in the car and the couple allegedly took the girls mobile phones and drove them through several suburbs while allegedly threatening them.

The girls were returned to Donald Road a short time later and police were alerted to the incident.

Officers attached to Monaro Local Area Command conducted a patrol of the area and located the man and woman nearby.

The couple were arrested and taken to Monaro Police Station.

The 35-year-old woman was charged with take/detain person in company with intent to obtain advantage.

The 21-year-old man was charged with take/detain person in company with intent to obtain advantage.

They were both refused bail and will both appear at Queanbeyan Local Court today (June 15).

It is understood those involved are known to each other.
