Man dies after being tasered

A MAN has died in Waramanga yesterday (October 31) after he was tasered by police in an attempt to prevent him from further harming himself.

Police arrived in Waramanga yesterday at about 11.30am after receiving a report from someone saying they could hear glass smashing and a man yelling.

Police believe the man had seriously injured himself and in an attempt to prevent further self-harm they tasered him.

The ACT Ambulance Service and police attempted to help and revive the man but he was unable to be revived.

A critical incident was declared and AFP professional standards along with the ACT Coroner’s Office were notified and attended the scene in response.

Police say as the investigation is ongoing it would be inappropriate to comment further.
