Man smashes running ACTION bus

A MAN has been caught on CCTV footage in April throwing an item at an ACTION bus and smashing the glass panelled door.

The incident occurred on Katherine Avenue in Amaroo on April 20, at about 9.30pm.

Man allegedly smashes ACTION bus door in April.
Before the incident the man entered an ACTION bus and spoke with the driver. He then exited the bus, picked up an item and threw it at the vehicle.

The male is described as Caucasian in appearance, aged in his early to mid-20’s, with short light brown hair. He was wearing a black hooded jumper and denim jeans.

Officer in charge of Gungahlin Station Rod Anderson says he is disappointed to see this type of crime.

“ACT Policing treats incidents of property damage very seriously. It doesn’t matter if the damage is to personal property or a business and their assets, acts of vandalism have consequences,” he says.

“Police have followed a number of lines of enquiry and now are appealing for assistance from the public to identify the alleged offender.”

Director public transport operations, Ian McGlinn says: “Transport Canberra are dedicated to providing a safe service for their passengers and staff.”

“Destructive behavior, such as this, is illegal and will not be tolerated by Transport Canberra.”
