Update: Pipe rupture causes gas leak in Greenway

FIREFIGHTERS are trying to contain a gas leak in Greenway after workers in the area ruptured an underground pipe while digging.

ACT Fire & Rescue were alerted to the incident on Soward Way at 8. 12am.

The nearby Manning Clark building has been evacuated as a precaution.

ACTEW has been called-in and is currently assisting to seal-off the pipe.

Update: 11.46am 

THE gas leak in Greenway has now been isolated and sealed-off.

Atmospheric monitoring has concluded and all occupants of the Manning Clark building have been allowed to return to work.
