Greens ‘turn its back on struggling Canberrans’

THE ACT Greens have refused support from the Canberra Liberals who were planning to exempt landlords from land tax in exchange for offering discounted rent, says Shadow Minister for Housing Mark Parton.

Mark Parton.
Mr Parton says with the support of the Canberra Liberals the Greens had the numbers to help make rent cheaper for so many Canberrans.

“But today, the Greens turned their back on every single struggling Canberran who would have benefited from this plan,” he says.

“I’m truly stunned.

“The land tax exemption plan is great policy and should have been implemented with Liberal support.

“Unfortunately, the Greens’ grandstanding has put them in a position where they would rather throw struggling Canberrans under a bus than upset their Labor buddies.

“This shows just how sold out the Greens are. They are utterly beholden to the Labor movement.”
