Pregnant woman rescued from ‘suspicious’ fire

A PREGNANT woman was rescued early this morning (August 23) by firefighters after becoming trapped in her backyard while her Nicholls home was on fire.

The woman quickly evacuated her home on Dooland Court after the fire broke out and rang triple zero just after 2am, but as the house was engulfed with flames, there was no safe exit.

Communications centre operators continued speaking with the woman until firefighters found her in the backyard and moved her to safety.

Crews are continuing to extinguish hot spots throughout the three-bedroom property.

The cause has been deemed suspicious.
