Scarred man approaches child in Isaacs

WITHIN a week, two children, in different incidents, were approached by strange men in Canberra.

Police have released this face fit image of the man who approached a child in Isaacs.

The first happened in Isaacs, on Bromby Street, Thursday, June 20, at about 5.45pm.

A man, who was described as having a grey-coloured beard and a scar over one eye, hopped out of his car and spoke to the child. The child didn’t respond and ran away.

The bearded man is also described as being Caucasian in appearance, about 170cm (5’7”) tall, about 50-years-old with dark eyebrows. He was wearing a dark beanie, gloves and a dark coloured T-shirt with a skull on it at the time.

ACT police have now released a face fit image of the man.

The second incident happened a week later in Monash, on Thursday, June 27, at about 3.40pm. A child was walking along Sturdee Crescent when approached by two men in a vehicle. The child ran away down a nearby laneway.

While neither child was injured, police say they are taking these approaches seriously and are investigating both incidents.

Anyone who may have any information are urged to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333000, or via the Crime Stoppers ACT website
