Composer Michael Dooley… premiere for his “Piano Concerto No.1”.

“MICHAEL has really outdone himself with the orchestral writing,” says pianist Andrew Rumsey of Canberra composer Michael Dooley’s “Piano Concerto No.1”, to be performed in premiere by the National Capital Orchestra under the baton of Leonard Weiss. CANBERRA women from diverse cultures will appear in “In Her Words,” directed by Padma Menon, a performance of dance, film, poetry, song and story, 6.15pm, Saturday, June 15, at Hawker College Theatre. BLOOMSDAY is a celebration of the life of Irish writer James Joyce, observed annually on June 16, the day his novel “Ulysses” takes place. This year a bevy of Molly Blooms and other assorted Dubliners will line up to read extracts and raise a glass to Joyce.
