THE Australian Institute of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Studies’ nightly projections onto the National Carillon have now begun and will continue nightly until November 15.

THE alternative Archibald and Wynne Prize selection, the “Salon des Refusés” this year features self-portraits by Canberra artist Daniel Vukovljak and ANU painting graduate Clare Thackway. The salon can be seen at the S.H. Ervin Gallery at 2 Watson Rd, Millers Point, Sydney until November 29, Tuesday-Sunday, 11am-5pm.

GOOD news that Canberra region writer Nigel Featherstone’s novel “Bodies of Men” is eighth in the longlist of the new $60,000 ARA Historical Novel Prize, which recognises Australian and New Zealand historical novelists. The winner will be announced by both video broadcast and livestream tomorrow, Tuesday, November 10, here.

TO mark Remembrance Day, the Australian Wind Symphony has released a 50-minute concert of mostly unheard recordings, including its traditional annual offering “Abide with Me” in an arrangement by Jay Dawson, incorporating the Last Post.
